Mercedes-Benz launched locally manufactured C 220 CDI at Rs 37.90 lakh

Emphasising its ‘Make in India’ commitment, Mercedes-Benz increases local content in the new Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI up to 60 percent, bringing the price down to Rs 37.90 lakhs.

Made in India Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI rolled out

Mercedes-Benz India today rolled-out the all new C 220 CDI from its state-of-art manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The local production of the new C 220 CDI commences within three months of the car’s India debut. Earlier in February this year the German luxury car maker introduced the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI in Style and Avantgarde variants, priced at Rs 39.90 lakh and Rs 42.90  lakh  (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. But now with the local production prices of the C-Class have been reduced by almost Rs 3 lakh a piece. The locally assembled Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI Style variant now costs Rs 37.90 lakh while the top of the line Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI Avantgarde is priced at Rs 39.90 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “With the local production of the new C 220 CDI and in tune with its ‘Make in India’ commitment, Mercedes-Benz India has now an increased localization content of 60 per cent in this car. We are confident that with the production of the new C 220 CDI in India, we will be able to create a higher benchmark in terms of local production of high-end luxury cars in India, and make our customers equally delighted by providing an unmatched value.”

The luxurious new Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI comes packed with a 2143cc inline four diesel motor which churns out 125PS of peak power between 3000-4200rpm and has a torque rating of 400Nm between 1400-2800rpm. The frugal oil-burner is said to sprint from 0-100kmph in 7.4seconds and claims a fuel efficiency figure of 19.27kmpl. (Also read: Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI Review)

On the sidelines, Mercedes-Benz also introduces a new leasing solution under the Corporate Star Lease program, which leases out Mercedes-Benz cars to corporates under the employee car benefit program. There is a provision for attractive rentals which not only covers the on-road cost of the car, but also additionally covers the maintenance expense during the lease period. This leasing program also comes with a host of features like, freedom from mileage restrictions, the flexibility to change the car or to retain it after the lease period, beneficial tax proposition, and also availability of lease options for 36 months and 48 months.
