While Samajwadi Party splits Shivpal Yadav sings a Bollywood song about promises and betrayal - Watch video

Lucknow: A video showing Shivpal Yadav singing a known Bollywood song from the film 'Upkaar' has surfaced.

Shivpal, who is fighting a bitter battle with his nephew and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, is seen singing the song 'Kasme waade pyaar wafaa sab baatein hain baaton ka kya, koi kisi ka nahi ye jhoothe, naate hain naaton ka kya', at a New Year's eve party.

A day after he sang the song, Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday named himself the new head of the Samajwadi Party even as his supporters stormed the party's state headquarters.

On a day of fast paced developments, the two sides engaged in mutual recriminatory expulsions with the convention called by Ram Gopal Yadav removing Akhilesh's warring uncle Shivpal Yadav as state party chief, and showing the door to "outsider" Amar Singh, who has been blamed for the feud in the Yadav clan.

A furious Mulayam Singh hit back, declaring the pro-Akhilesh meeting illegal and expelling party vice president Kironmoy Nanda and Rajya Sabha member Naresh Agarwal. Nanda refused to accept the decision.

The decisions by Akhilesh supporters -- and Mulayam Singh's retaliation -- plunged the ruling Samajwadi Party into a fresh crisis.
