Samajwadi Party candidate PD Tiwari broke out into tears in presence of Akhilesh Yadav on stage – Here's why

Deoria: In a quite unusual incident, a Samajwadi Party candidate broke into tears in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

PD Tiwari is contesting from Barhaj seat in Deoria in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Just before the incident, Akhilesh Yadav, while addressing a rally to boost the morale of the candidate, said: "PM (Narendra) Modi said the BJP would take away seats chun chun ke. Let us see how he takes the Barhaj seat.”

However, to everyone's surprise, Tiwari broke down after taking the mic, reported NDTV.

He was then taken off the stage by his supporters while Akhilesh Yadav looked on.

Tiwari's supporters say the SP candidate was "disturbed" because of the rebellion he was facing within the party.

The district is going to polls in the 6th phase on March 4.
