Heatwave prevailed in many parts of Uttar Pradesh with the mercury breaching the 40-degree mark at several places.

Banda was the hottest place in the state, where the mercury touched 46.8 degrees Celsius. Lucknow recorded maximum temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.

The maximum temperature in Allahabad was 46 degrees Celsius, Jhansi 45.5 degrees Celsius, Agra 44.8 degrees Celsius, Kanpur 44.4 degrees Celsius, Varanasi, Rae Bareli and Hamirpur 44.2 degrees Celsius each, Etawah 44.1 degrees Celsius, Aligarh and Orai both 44 degrees Celsius and Sultanpur 43.6 degrees Celsius.

The weatherman has forecast mainly clear sky in Lucknow tomorrow with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 45 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

The weather is most likely to remain dry throughout the state and heatwave condition is very likely at isolated places, the local MeT department has said.
