BSF martyr Prem Sagar insulted? AC, sofa installed at his residence for UP CM's visit removed after he left

Lucknow: In yet another incident of shocking apathy of government officials towards the brave sons of 'Mother India', a sofa, carpet and an air conditioner put at the residence of slain BSF head constable, Prem Sagar, in view of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's visit was removed minutes after he left.

According to a report published in the Indian Express, the UP government officials, who had made several arrangements, which included installing an air conditioner, a sofa set, a carpet, curtains and table covers, were removed within minutes of CM Adityanath's departure from the slain BSF jawan's house.

The officials had made the arrangements in the honour of Yogi Adityanath, who had on Friday visited Prem Sagar's residence in the Tikampar village of UP’s Deoria district to show his respect to the slain BSF jawan.

“Around 1 pm on Friday, officials came and installed an AC in our drawing room, placed a sofa and spread out a carpet on the floor. The CM was in our house for about half-an-hour and soon after he left, they began dismantling the AC and took away everything else,” Sagar’s son Ishwar Chandra was quoted as saying.

Interestingly, a day before CM's visit, dusty roads in the village were cleaned and drains which always used to remain open were covered.

Sagar, 45, was one of the two soldiers killed, and their bodies mutilated, in an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team on May 1. 

During his visit, Yogi Adityanath had handed over a cheque of Rs 4 lakh and a certificate of a fixed deposit of Rs 2 lakh to Sagar's family members.

He also reportedly promised employment to Sagar's children after they complete their studies.

The Chief Minister also promised that a memorial and a girls inter college will be set up in the village in the memory of the slain trooper. He also promised a road to connect the village to the main road.

Ironically, when questioned about the shocking incident, the top Deoria district officials avoided a direct reply.
