Roger Federer stole SABR shot from me, jokes Nick Kyrgios

New Delhi: Swiss legend Roger Federer recently made headlines after he defeated old nemesis Rafael Nadal in an epic five-setter to claim his 18th Grand Slam title. The summit clash at the Rod Laver Arena was a delight to watch for the tennis fans, who were entertained by a plethora of breathtaking strokes from the two modern greats.

To compete with opponents much younger to him, Federer had come up with new innovations in the last few years. One of them which made plenty of news was SABR (sneak attack by Federer), with which he managed to bamboozle several players.

But according to Nick Kyrgios, tennis' bad boy, the 18-time Grand Slam champion stole the shot from him.

“I was doing that (rushing serves) in juniors, it’s more like a stolen attack by Roger,” Kyrgios was quoted as saying by Herald Sun.

SABR is a strategic stroke where the opponent charges towards the service box from the baseline, against his opponent's second serve, to create some pressure.

The Swiss marvel used the SARB stroke to great effect under the watchful eyes of coach Stefan Edberg.

Kyrgios was invited to train with Federer in Zurich in 2014.

The Australian was seen unleashing the stroke on numerous occasions during the Davis Cup.
