Justice Arumugasamy panel begins probe into Jayalalithaa's death

Chennai: Retired Madras High Court judge A Arumugasamy has begun probe to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and ruling AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa.

Arumugasamy has begun its probe from the Poes Garden residence where Jayalaluthaa lived before her death in 2016, according to ANI.

In September, Justice (retired) Arumugasamy was appointed to head the probe into the death of Jayalalithaa following Chief Minister E Palaniswamy's announcement in this regard.

The Tamil Nadu government set up the inquiry commission in September to investigate Jayalalithaa's death.

The panel will submit its report in three months.

Adding a new twist to the mystery relating to Jayalalithaa's death, Tamil Nadu's Forests Minister Dindigul Sreenivasan had recently claimed that all ministers of the state had lied to the people about hospitalisation and death of the former AIADMK general secretary.

Only former confidant VK Sasikala and her family had access to see the ailing Jayalalithaa, he had claimed.
