AIADMK MP V Maitreyan raises doubt over Jayalalithaa's death, meets President to demand probe

New Delhi: AIADMK MP V Maitreyan on Tuesday met President Pranab Mukherjee to demand a probe on former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's death.

After meeting the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Maitryean raised suspicion over Jayalaithaa's death saying, “When Amma was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, everybody was was told that she had fever and no major health problem, but she went on to remain at the hospital for 75 days, till she breathed her last.”

“We think the present Tamil Nadu government won't accept our demand and hence came to the President and submitted a memorandum to demand a thorough probe into Jayalalithaa's death.

Jayalalithaa died on December 5 after being admitted in Apollo Hospitals for 75 days.

Earlier, London-based specialist Richard Beale, who treated Jayalalithaa until she died in December, on Monday ruled out any "conspiracy" behind her death.

Addressing the media, Beale had said: "There was no conspiracy. She (Jayalalithaa) had severe infection. She had supportive care."
