New Delhi: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza's determined performance along with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig on Wednesday helped the pair to progress through to the quarterfinals of 2016 French Open in the mixed-doubles event.

The second-seeded pair beat the all-French team of Alize Cornet and Jonathan Eysseric, 6-7 (8), 6-4, 10-8, in the second round.

Earlier in the day, Indian challenge in the men's doubles event came to an end after Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna lost their respective quarterfinal games in straight sets.

On Sunday, top-seeded women's double pair of Mirza and Martina Hingis crashed out of the ongoing Grand Slam event to end their Slam dreams.
