Sania Mirza: Indian tennis ace aims for 2016 Rio Olympics medal

New Delhi: After pocketing the Australian Open women's doubles title on Friday, Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza is eyeing a medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics which will be held from August 5-21.

In an interview with NDTV, Sania stated that it would be amazing to have an Olympics medal.

"It would be amazing to have that (Olympics) medal. We will give everything in Rio. But there is still time for that. May be one month before the Olympics, I will plan more about it," Sania told NDTV.

Sania alongside Martina Hingis won her third straight Grand Slam after beating duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 7-6 (1), 6-3.

Sania will have to decide between Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna as her partner to play in the mixed doubles at Rio Olympics.

Sania who had to play against Martina in the mixed-doubles quarters, stated that it was emotionally draining for her as it is not easy to play against her partner.

"It was really emotionally draining for me. It's not easy to play against your friend, partner on one day and the very next day, you team up again. As professional tennis players we did what we could. After the match, we talked and then came out together today and won," she said.
