Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was on Wednesday stretchered off during her quarterfinal bout at the Rio Olympics.

It was later revealed that the Haryana girl had torn her ligament, which would take at least a week to recover.

Vinesh's campaign was cut short after she hurt her right knee half-way into the first period of her 48kg quarterfinal fight against China's Sun Yanan.

The 21-year-old, who was touted as a medal prospect for India, was seen grimacing in pain as she was treated for about five minutes before being stretchered off for medical treatment

It was heartbreaking for Indian fans to see her weep out of disappointment for not being able to continue in the most important bout of her career.

Later in the day, Vinesh took to social micro-blogging site Twitter to share an extremely emotional message with her fans and followers.

Thankfully, it wasnt a bone injury and there was no dislocation. However, it will take two-three days for her to walk properly.
