India ranked worst performer at Rio Olympics amongst medal winning countries

New Delhi: India ended journey at Rio Olympics with just two medals in hand, that too by PV sindhu and Sakshi Malik who were not the pre-event favourites.

Following a survey conducted by several international media agencies, India is ranked the worst amongst the 87 teams to win a medal at Rio ( in two parameters ).

With a population of more than 1.3 billion people, the country is featured at the end of the list when -

1.The medal tally is adjusted and calculated on a per capita basis.

2. The medal tally is adjusted and calculated on the basis of GDP.

Both are worst ranks for a participating nation which won at least one medal.

An unprecedented number of 207 countries participated in the 2016 Summer Games, where 120 nations ended the sporting extraveganza without any medal.
