New Delhi: Track and field athletes who train at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru were up for a shock as they found obscene messages pasted on the walls of the ladies restroom.

According to a report in The Times of India, much to the shock of the athletes, obscene printed messages, which were pasted in four places in the restroom, asked female athletes to masturbate before practice.

"On Monday, some of the younger athletes were seen asking others to refrain from using the restroom as there was something 'bad' there. I went there out of curiosity and was shocked to see the message, signed by 'Sports Authority'. It is so disturbing and humiliating that somebody could enter the ladies' restroom and spend time pasting those messages without being noticed," an athlete who has been training at the stadium, told The Times of India on condition of anonymity.

The shameful messages were first noticed by a couple of athletes on Saturday evening after which a few senior girls, who saw it on Monday morning, brought it to the notice of coaches and officials.

After the complain, the other restrooms were checked post which it was found that only the ladies' restroom was targeted.

The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) had recently introduced ID cards for coaches and athletes in an awake to check “Eve teasing” and theft at the stadium.
