Is comeback of Ukrainian coach a new headache for Indian women athletes?

New Delhi: After he was sacked in 2011, when six Indian women athletes failed dope tests, chief coach Yuri Ogorodnik is back to square one as Indian athletes are preparing for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

But once being the favourite among most of his pupils, the Ukrainian is reportedly facing a tough time in his second stint.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the top women athletes, who are preparing for the 2016 Olympics are reluctant to accompanying Yuri on a 90-day training trip to Turkey, beginning in October first week.

The newspaper has also learnt that the players have raised concerns that there is little point in travelling to Turkey as that nation’s athletics team has been hit by doping scandals in recent times and is ranked number two on the list of dope cheats.

If the report is anything to go by, then it might hamper the preparations of the athletes for the multi-sporting event.
