New Delhi: The Delhi High Court (HC) directed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) to revoke the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar awarded to IOA chief and World Squash Federation president N Ramachandran in 2011, according to a media report.

The bench of Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice RK Gauba also pulled up the government for changing the composition of the selection committee for the awards and excluding players from the committee, as per the report published in The Indian Express.

According to HC, Ramachandran made “tall claims” in his application, including his declaration that he has spent Rs 7.5 crore to establish the Squash and Triathlon Academy in Tamil Nadu, had been “blindly” accepted by the committee.

The court, however, found that there were no documentary records in any financial documents of his personal contribution or from his companies.
