New Delhi: Fernando Alonso finally scored his first point for McLaren in his second innings with the British team at the 2015 British Grand Prix on Sunday. The two-time World Champion finished tenth at a half-wet, half-dry Silverstone circuit after enduring a tumultuous start to the 52-lap race.

Having endured a listless season so far, thanks to a slow and complicated car powered by Honda engine, the Spaniard scored Woking-based team's second top-ten result today. His team-mate Jenson Button had earlier finished eighth at the Monaco Grand Prix to give them four points.

Starting from P17, Alonso had the worst possible start forcing a pit stop to change the nose of his MP4-30 after the first lap itself. Alonso and his team-mate Button were caught in a Lotus brawl, the former Ferrari driver was lucky enough to get back in the race. But for, Button, it was yet another early exit.

In a surprise move, the 33-year-old returned to his old stable McLaren at the end of the last season as the highest-class of motor-racing embraced for new rule changes. But the change in livery failed to work in his favour as retired in Malaysia, Spain, Monaco, Canada and Austria, also missing the season opener in Australia after surviving a crash in the second season pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Respected as one the best drivers in the grid, Alonso won back-to-back Drivers' Championships in 2005 and 2006 Renault. Then, he spent a season with McLaren in 2007, before returning to Renault for two more seasons. And in 2010, he joined Ferrari in a high-profile move, but with limited success. He finished runner-up in 2010, 2012 and 2013, with the famous Italian team.
