New Delhi: One of the finest players ever to play football, Lionel Messi was again to his absolute best after a lengthy injury lay-off as Barcelona challenged for all major honors in the 2015-16 season.

Together with Luis Suarez and Neymar, Messi has formed a formidable partnership up front; breaking records and setting benchmarks.

The Argentine star was also competing for UEFA's Goal of the Season award, battling Xhedran Shaqiri's wonder-goal in Euro 2016 and Futsal star Ricardinho's strike against Serbia.

With 34% votes to his name, Messi was deservedly named the winner.
