Shillong: Under relegation threat, Rangdajied United FC will leave no stone unturned as they take on Shillong Lajong FC in the return leg of the Shillong derby at the J N Stadium here on Sunday.
The encounter promises to be a heart thumping contest as Rangdajied United will be hoping to avoid relegation requiring at least a point to secure a berth in the next season`s top tier football league in the country. "Unlike Lajong, this will be the final game of the season for Rangdajied and hence we will go all out against our opponent," Rangdajied`s coach Hering Shangpliang said. The pressure is more on the team after United SC drubbed defending champions Churchill Brothers 2-0 in Goa thus dropped Rangdajied`s position by one place to 11th in the table, he said. Lajong on the other hand has a daunting task ahead as they look to finish in the top five positions in the Table. They are currently at number 5 position, two points behind Sporting Clube de Goa. Lajong`s Coach Thangboi Singto stressed on the fact that the team has to be defensively compact and should not concede early in the match or else it would give additional advantages to the opponent. "Rangdajied has done better than us at home. They have top players in each position. Coach Herring is a very good and experienced Coach. It will be a difficult game for us but all the players will give their hundred per cent," he said. The first Shillong derby resulted in a draw with Lajong`s Boithang Haokip scoring a leveller after Yohei Iwasaki had given Rangdajied the lead.
