New Delhi: After yet another season without adding a notable achievement to his resume, Jose Mourinho is keen to address the core issue at Chelsea before start of the new season. In a bid to win silverware, Mourinho`s primary objective will be to strengthen his attack during the summer transfer window. According to the Evening Standard, the "Special One" is keenly following the exploits of the explosive Ezequiel Lavezzi at Paris Saint-Germain. This latest development does not come as a surprise especially after the Stamford Bridge faithful were left disappointed by their three frontmen – Samuel Eto`o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres. Apart from being well past his prime, Eto`o has been plagued by injuries this season, while the careers of both Ba and Torres haven`t really taken off since they switched over from Newcastle and Liverpool respectively. Mourinho has often expressed his desire to bolster the attack at the end of this season and has ever since been linked to virtually every top striker in Europe. Post his spat with Eden Hazard, who has been Chelsea`s most impressive attacking player, the problems seem to have mounted for Mourinho. Chelsea are on the verge of sealing a move for Atletico Madrid`s Diego Costa and the club are looking to find a suitable strike partner for him which is why they are interested in the 29-year-old Argentine. Lavezzi having joined PSG from Napoli in 2012, has done his reputation no harm during his tenure at the Parc des Princes. He had an excellent first season but was unable to build on his previous performances due to the arrival of his former teammate Edinson Cavani at PSG. Lavezzi`s key strengths are his physicality and technical ability. With genuine pace and an exceptional crossing ability, Lavezzi has proven his capability in finding gaps between the opposition`s defense and midfield during his time at Napoli and PSG. However, his record of 11 goals in 46 matches in 2013-14 suggests Lavezzi needs improve his conversion rate in front of goal. Lavezzi found place in the starting line-up when PSG faced Chelsea over two legs in the quarter-final of the Champions League and it was the first leg at the Parc des Princes, where Lavezzi had a great night that coerced Mourinho into shortlisting him as a summer transfer target for Chelsea.
