New Delhi: After completing the signings of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, Arsenal look set to capture Calum Chambers from Southampton. The young defender is expected to make the switch to North London for £16m fee. Chambers, had already undergone a medical on Friday. The 19-year-old has made 25 appearances for Southampton and is highly rated at the club. At Arsenal, the England Under-19 international could play as a centre-back or a bit higher up as the club have signed Mathieu Debuchy for the role of right-back. It is also being widely reported that Gunners are interested in Chambers` club-mate Morgan Schneiderlin, who is a 24-year-old midfielder. Chambers would become Arsenal`s third summer signing following the arrivals of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez and Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy. He would be the latest player to leave St Mary`s this summer following the exits of Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham Hotspur, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Liverpool and Luke Shaw to Manchester United. That`s not all. Dejan Lovren could also follow Lallana and Lambert to Liverpool as the Anfield club are close to reaching an agreement with Southampton for a £20m move for the defender. The Saints seem to be the preferred destination of poachers for this transfer season as even former manager Pochettino seems interested in luring striker Jay Rodriguez to White Harte Lane. If the deal for Calum Chambers to Arsenal goes through, Carl Jenkinson could move away from the Emirates in search of first team action as part of a loan deal.
