World's highest cricket stadium likely to be constructed in Lahaul-Spiti

New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh's tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti could be home to the world's highest cricket stadium in the near future.

The stadium, when constructed, will stand at an altitude of 3,048 metre above sea level in the most picturesque setting surrounded by a mountain, lake and the Chenab river.

This plan has been in the works for about two years. Authorities have given a green signal to the district association to kick-start the project.

The only issue now is the fact that two cricket associations share the same name and the one building the stadium does not come under umbrella of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA).

Hence financial issues may arise as it does not have the backing of BCCI or HPCA. Apart from attempting to raise money via crowd-funding, the association also intends to approach the Indian board for help.

The plan is to construct a stadium on the lines of Dharamsala with state-of-the-art facilities.
