World T20 Qualifier: ACSU to probe Afghanistan-Hong Kong match for unusual betting patterns

New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACU) of International Cricket Council (ICC) will probe the Afghanistan-Hong Kong match in Dublin for a possible match-fixing.

A report in ESPNCricinfo claimed that the ACU noticed unusual betting patterns on the game and will approach betting firms, including Betfair, to investigate any possible wrong-doings from the players.

In the first play-off of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 on Tuesday, Hong Kong beat favourites Afghanistan in a last-ball thriller to secure a spot in the 2016 ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

Chasing 161 runs to win, Hong Kong won the match by five wickets thanks to Babar Hayat heroics, who scored 20 off nine balls. Mohammed Nabi of Afghanistan conceded 16 runs in the last over.

Despite the defeat, Afghanistan still have one more chance to qualify for ICC's Twenty20 show-piece tournament, to be held in India from March 11 to April 3 next year. They play Papua New Guinea on Thursday in the third qualifying play-off.
