REVEALED: What MS Dhoni thinks about quitting Test cricket

New Delhi: India limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday admitted that he "miss playing Test cricket" and revealed why he quit the five-day format of the game.

Dhoni retired from Test cricket in December, 2014 during India's tour of Australia.

"Obviously you miss playing Test cricket. But I don't regret it. Look, for cricketers it's a passion or call it a bug that stays with you forever forever. It never leaves you," he said.

After quitting Test cricket, the 35-year-old continues leading the national team in the limited overs, and also playing in the Indian Premier League.

Dhoni, now a father to a daughter, mentioned that limiting his playing times to limited overs formats has given him time to spend time with family and take care of his body.

"That's why you are all these 40 and 50 plus cricketers who come back for commentary, coaching junior teams. As far as I am concerned, this gives me a chance to spend time with my family," he added.

Dhoni made his Test debut in December 2005, a year after making playing his first ODI match for India. He played 90 Test matches, scoring 4876 runs at an average of 38.09.

"The time away from cricket has given me lot of time to plan my off season. I hit the gym more, do a lot of running, taking care of my body. Now, after 30, you need to be careful of your body.

"In the last 10 years of extensive travelling, I have abused my body a lot. It's because of eating habits as it's more about what you intake that creates problem. So I have been taking care of my body," concluded Dhoni.
