Waqar Younis says Pakistan need to develop 'all-round' youngsters

Karachi: Pakistan incumbent cricket team coach Waqar Younis has stressed the need to develop players with all-round abilities in order to excel at premier events following their topsy-turvy World Cup campaign.

Pakistan's World Cup campaign was marred with shoddy fielding performance and Misbah-ul-Haq's men were eliminated from the tournament following their six-wicket defeat to co-hosts Australia in the quarterfinal.

Waqar, the former pace spearhead, said that they needed to make mature decision and stop being emotional, adding that they needed to develop youngsters and experiment in the upcoming series against Bangladesh, the Express Tribune reported.

Waqar insisted that they needed to select players who have all-round attributes and apart from being good batsmen or bowlers they should be exceptional fielders and physically fit.

Waqar added that World Cup is a benchmark and after every premier event changes are meant to happen.
