Rohit Sharma: Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya cannot afford to get too excited

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma knows the two new stars – Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya – probably better than anybody else in the Indian team.

Having captained them at Mumbai Indians, the Indian opener knows the strengths and weaknesses of the duo.

Ahead of the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka, the in-form batsman had a few words of advice for the two youngsters.

Speaking to BCCI.tv, Rohit said he could see potential in them but they needed to keep working and not get too excited.

“I think they are growing as cricketers, which is always good to see. They started off with Mumbai Indians, now they are playing for India and here they have different roles, responsibilities and challenges. I just hope that they carry on and focus on the road ahead. They cannot afford to get too excited, and I am sure they know it. I can see a lot of potential in them, and I am happy to see that they are delivering it,” said the Mumbai batsman.

Both Bumrah and Pandya were first noticed in the Indian Premier League. They backed their good show in the cash-rich league with consistent performances in domestic cricket to earn a call-up to the national side.

The Gujarat pacer has surprised many with his accurate yorkers, while Pandya has received praise for his spunk and confidence on the field.
