Indian Premier League 9: Beleaguered R Ashwin finds support in spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan during tough phase

New Delhi: Indian spinner R Ashwin is witnessing one of the worst phases of his bowling career in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The offie, who is representing MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants this season, has picked just three wickets so far from eight matches.

In this tough period, the Chennai-born spinner has found support in Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan.

When asked whether Ashwin seems to have lost his mojo in the last few months, Murali told The Times of India, "I don't think so. Ashwin has been Indi a's premier bowler for the last few years. He is someone who works hard at his game and looks to improve all the time. Just because he didn't perform as per expectations in one match or a series doesn't make Ashwin any less a bowler. Ashwin is a mature bowler who knows what he needs to do to be the best in the business."

Ashwin's poor show has been one of the main reasons behind RPS' dismal show in the tournament, where they are languishing at sixth position in points table after just two wins from eight matches.
