New Delhi: Faf du Plessis has been ruled out for at least four weeks due to a knee injury. The South African batsman confirmed his injury lay-off on Wednesday while doing commentary during the first One-Day International against New Zealand.

"It's frustrating for me because I feel good and in form. Brandon Jackson, the physiotherapist, said I will need about three or four weeks of no running at all and then can get back into training," the 31-year-old said.

The right-handed batsman was set to lead South Africa in the two-match T20 series against the Black Caps which ended in a 1-1 draw, but unluckily pulled up in the Durban pre-match warm-up, injuring a tendon in his left knee.

Since then, he has been adviced to take proper rest to ensure a full recovery ahead of the upcoming India tour.

Du Plessis is the third player to miss the three-match ODI series. Jean-Paul Duminy and Morne Morkel have already taken their respective paternity leaves.
