Hearing on James Anderson-Ravindra Jadeja altercation to be held on August 1

Zee Media Bureau New Delhi: The hearing into the Level 3 charge against England pacer James Anderson will be held on August 1 via videoconference. The date was decided by Gordon Lewis, who was recently appointed as the judicial commissioner, during Tuesday`s preliminary hearing. The preliminary hearing was attended by representatives of Anderson, the ECB, the BCCI, legal counsel of both boards, and the ICC`s ethics and regulatory lawyer. Anderson has been charged under Level 3 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel by India team manager Sunil Dev following the alleged incident that took place on the second day of the first Test match. If proven guilty, Anderson will face a ban of two to four Tests or four to eight ODIs. On the other hand, England hit back at the Indian team by charging Jadeja with a Level 2 offence under the ICC Code of Conduct for his role in an alleged incident involving Anderson on the second day of the first Test. England claimed that Jadeja `took steps towards Anderson in an aggressive and threatening manner` The charge against Jadeja was brought by England team manager Phil Neale. "It is alleged that after the players left the public area and entered the pavilion [for lunch], Jadeja turned suddenly and took steps towards Anderson in an aggressive and threatening manner," the ICC said. All Level 2 breaches carry a fine of between 50-100% of the match fee and/or up to two suspension points. Two suspension points can lead to a ban of one Test, or two ODIs. Ahead of the Lord`s Test, England skipper Alastair Cook claimed that Anderson was specifically targeted by India. "Yes I think so. This is tactical from India," Cook said when when asked specifically if Anderson had been targeted.
