Can Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan regain their lost form in Sydney?

New Delhi: After Virat Kohli, Ajikya Rahane and Murali Vijay managed to enhance their reputation as Test batsmen in the on-going four-match series against Australia, then a couple of other top-order batsmen need to the same at Syndey as the last chance beckons.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and number three Cheteshwar Pujara haven't done any thing noteworthy, thus far. At times, they showed glimpses of their class, but failed to provide the solidity to the team on most occasions.

In the first three Tests, Delhi-opener only managed to add 167 runs to his account as he scored 25, 9, 24, 81, 28 and 0. Only once, did the southpaw manage to cross the fifty-run mark, in the second innings of second Test, played at Brisbane. Otherwise, his bat remained silent as he struggled to negotiate with the ball pitching on off stump.

Pujara, regarded as one of the most technically sound batsman in the Indian team, has been struggling once again to convert his starts. The right-hander faced the same problem during the last tour of England as well, where India lost the series 3-1.

The one-down batsman started off the series on a positive note by scoring 71 in the first innings of the Adelaide Test. Despite getting starts thereafter, he simply failed to capitalise on them. In the last three Tests, he only managed to add 201 runs in his six innings, which is huge disappointment for such a highly-rated player.

India have already lost the series 0-2, but in the dead rubber at Sydney, these two have another chance to justify their place in the side by scoring a big runs.
