After Virat Kohli now it's time for Steven Smith to take charge

New Delhi: In the opening Test between India and Australia we have seen Virat Kohli leading the Indian side for the very first time in Test cricket. And now in the second Test, scheduled to take place at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia are going to play under newly appointed skipper Steven Smith.

Smith was named the skipper of the side by Cricket Australia on Sunday for the remaining three Tests of the series.

The 25-year-old will become Australia's 45th Test captain, when he leads the side in the second Test, scheduled to kick-start from December 17. It will also make him the third youngest Australian Test skipper too.

Interestingly, both the players – Kohli and Smith – have got the chance to lead the pack after regular skippers of their respective teams got injured.

Kohli led the India side quite decently at the Adelaide Test and hardly showed any signs of nervousness. In fact, at one stage Indian's were looking upbeat to win the match, which they eventually lost in a close encounter by 48 runs.

Approach of Indian skipper remained aggressive throughout the match and he performed exceptionally well with the bat by slamming a ton in each of the innings.

Kohli's intent to go for a win even after getting a tricky total of 363 runs on the final day against the hosts, showed his positive approach. But his altercation with few Aussie players on the field and intense celebrations after the fall of wickets prove that he still has a lot to learn.

Smith is even younger than Kohli and has got the chance to captain the top ICC Test team. Pressure would be surely on the lad. But in the presence of seniors like Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson and Shane Watson, he will get some much needed assistance.
