New Delhi: Pakistani all-rouner Shahid Afridi followed the steps of Sri Lankan stalwarts Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and fellow teammate Misbah-ul-Haq in retiring from ODI cricket. The Pakistani icon finally bid farewell to a glorious 19-year-old career but it ended on the wrong note as his side lost a crucial quarter-final encounter against Australia in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2015 on Friday.
Afridi failed in the World Cup after managing to scalp just two wickets in seven matches and making a highest score of just 28 runs. Against Australia too Afridi fizzled out and it wasn't the performance he would have liked given the circumstance.
Afridi who played 398 ODIs for Pakistan managed to score 8026 runs and take 395 wickets.
He stated on Saturday that he didn't like the way things ended for him and thanked the supporters who cheered him during his 19-year-old career.
He expressed his views through social micro-blogging site, Twitter.
