New Delhi: A player who was ignored by all the Indian Premier League franchises during the auction, Neil Narvekar, smashed a whirlwind hundred to help his side Parkophene Cricketers to beat hosts Khar Gymkhana in Dr HD Kanga Cricket League 'B' Division match on Sunday.

Narvekar completed his hundred in mere 29 balls, laced with six boundaries and twelve sixes.

Interestingly, the 26-year-old got a message from his dressing room when he was on 96 that only seven minutes are remaining to play. And then the southpaw hit a six to complete his ton in style.

After smashing the hundred he stated: "I never thought of scoring 100 so quickly. The ball was coming on to the bat nicely. I wanted to score at a fast rate as that would have helped us achieve a better quotient."

Narvekar casually filled the IPL auction form as a domestic player and surprisingly for him, his name came up in the bid but he wasn't picked up by any team as he was largely an unknown player.

Narvekar once claimed a ten wicket haul in an innings during his school days in 2004.

However, Narvekar hasn't represented Mumbai in any of the age group tournaments. He has always been in the probables, but never got picked.

After his blistering knock one can expect him to represent Mumbai soon or for that matter one of the cash-rich IPL franchise.
