Dada responds to Ravi Shastri's 'Sourav Ganguly absent' remark - Here's what he said

New Delhi: After losing out to Anil Kumble in the race to become India's head coach, Ravi Shastri admitted to being very disappointed.

Speaking to the Indian Express, the former team director said the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) asked him some very good questions.

He also informed the newspaper that Sourav Ganguly wasn't present during the interview, which was conducted via video conferencing as Shastri was in Thailand.

Speaking to the same newspaper on Saturday, Dada played safe and offered a clarification.

“The (coach selection) interview is absolutely confidential. I don’t want to talk about Shastri’s comment. You should also ask the other members of the (cricket) advisory committee,” the former India captain said.

Dada further added that Shastri's interview was held between 5 and 6pm (IST) at Taj Bengal on Tuesday. At the time, he headed to Eden Gardens for a CAB working committee meeting.

Ganguly joined VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar (video conferencing) and Sanjay Jagdale at 6.30 in the evening.

There were reports that BCCI was keen on appointing Shastri as a batting coach as part of Kumble's staff.

On Saturday however, Sanjay Bangar was appointed for that position.
