2016 Caribbean Premier League: Jamaica Tallawahs beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 9 wickets to win second title

New Delhi: Jamaica Tallawahs defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in a one-sided Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 final at Warner Park, St Kitts on Monday.

After winning the toss, the Chris Gayle-led outfit chased down Amazon Warriors' paltry total of 93 runs in 12.5 overs, with the skipper scoring 54 off 27 balls. He hit three fours and six sixes.

Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara hit the winning runs, a four off Veerasammy Permaul. He was unbeaten on 12 off 15 balls.

Gayle and his opening partner Chadwick Walton (25*) posted a 79-run stand to make the chase easy for 2013 champions.

Early in the match, Imad Wasim took three wickets to lead the Tallawahs attack. He was ably supported by Shakib Al Hasan (2 for 25), Kesrick Williams (2 for 12).

Sohail Tanvir was Amazon Warriors top scorer with 42 off 37 balls.
