2014 Commonwealth Games, Day 4: As it happened...

Welcome to our live coverage of the Day 4 of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. After a productive day 3, India will continue the medal hunt in events as varied as badminton, shooting, table tennis and weightlifting.

Another medal from the Indian weightlifters as Punam Yadav wins a bronze in Women's Weightlifting 63 kg category. It's India's seventh medal in the weightlifting event of the Commonwealth Games. Badminton: Mix doubles pair of Akshay Dewalkar and Jwala Gutta lost in the mixed doubles as India is trailing 0-1 against England in the semi-finals. Hockey: In women's hockey New Zealand beat India 3-0. Athletics: In Women's 400m heats M R Poovamma clocks 54.01 to finish 3rd. Weightlifting: Vandna Gupta lifts 107kg on 1st attempt in Clean and Jerk and takes lead in Women's 63kg. Shot Put: In Men's Shot Put final OP Singh Karhana qualified for by securing 8th place. Hockey: Indian women's team is trailing 1-0 against New Zealand. Athletics: Sharadha Narayana is 5th in Women's 100m Heat 3 with a time of 11.81. Weightlifting: Punam Yadav finishes with 88kg Snatch in Women's 63kg. However, Vandna Gupta finishes with 91kg Snatch in Women's 63kg. Boxing: Manoj Kumar beat Arthur Biyarslanov of Canada by split decision in Men's Light Welterweight to enter the quarter-finals. Boxing: Manoj Kumar is fighting his bout against Biyarslanov. The winner of the match will enter the quarter-finals. Lawn Bowls:India beat South Africa 17-12 in Men's Fours. Shooting: In Men's Double Trap event Asab Mohd. will shoot in bronze medal match against Nathan Xuereb. Lawn Bowls: In Men's Fours event the Indian team is currently up against South Africa. Shooting: Mohammed Asab wins Bronze in Men's Double Trap. In the same event last time Ronjan Sodhi won a silver for India. It's India's 9th medal in shooting at the Glasgow Games. Asab beat 17-year-old Nathan Xuereb at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre. The 26-year-old Asab shot 26 while Xuereb managed 24. However, another Indian in the fray, Ankur Mittal missed out on a medal finishing fifth in the semi-final. Earlier Shreyasi Singh won silver medal in women's Double Trap shooting. She dropped the double in penultimate round to miss out on gold. The 22-year-old scored 92 points to finish second behind Charlotte Kerwood (England) who scored 94 points to win the event. India's Varsha Varman finished 5th with 88 points. TABLE TENNIS: Indian eves lose to Australia in women's Team Table Tennis bronze medal play-off. ATHLETICS: Flomena Cheyech Daniel of Kenya wins women's marathon, ahead of fellow Kenyan Caroline Kilel. Jess Trengove of Australia takes bronze. TABLE TENNIS: Indian pair of Patkar and Kumaresan lost to Miao and Lay as Australia lead the bronze medal play-off 2-1. ATHLETICS: Michael Shelley of Australia wins the Marathon gold medal. The 30-year-old was the silver medallist at the Delhi Games. This is the first medal of Day 4. SWIMMING: Sandeep Sejwal finished third best in Heat 3 of the men's 50m Breaststroke event behind G. Snyders of New Zealand and M. Tully of Scotland. The 25-year-old swimmer qualifies for the semis. HOCKEY: In one lop-sided match, Australian women hockey team thrashed hosts Scotland 9-0 in a Pool B encounter. SHOOTING: In another Double Trap event, Indian male shooters Ankur Mittal and Mohd Asab have qualified for the finals. SHOOTING: Women's Double Trap Finals has begun, where Indian shooter Shreyasi Singh are Varsha Varman in contention for the medals. TABLE TENNIS: 19-year-old Manika Batra defeated veteran Jian Fang Lay to draw level with Australia in the women's TT bronze medal fixture. TABLE TENNIS: Shamini Kumaresan lost to Ziyu Zhang in the opening rubber of the women's Team Table Tennis bronze medal match. As expected, shooters have contributed heavily with seven medals including three golds. Lifters followed with six, including two gold medals. And judokas have won four medals, but unluckily without a gold despite their valliant attempts. In swimming, Sandeep Sejwal will be in men's 50m Breaststroke fray while, Sajan Prakash will be in men's 100m Butterfly. Tough heats await Indian swimmers! On Day 1 of athletics, Om Parkash Singh Karhana will feature in men's Shot Put. Sharadha Narayana will be in women's 100m and Machettira Poovamma will compete in women's 400m. All of them will need to produce strong performance in the qualifyings. Other events which will see Indian athletes in action are athletics, boxing, hockey, lawn bowls and swimming. In the team events, women peddlers will fight for the bronze medal against Australia. Their male counterparts, will play England for a place in the finals. Indian shuttlers will play England in the semi-final of the Mixed Team event. India's medal hopefuls on Day 4 are shooters Ankur Mittal and Mohd Asab in men's Double Trap and Shreyasi Singh and Varsha Varman in women's Double Trap. Lifters Punam Yadav and Vandana Gupta in Women's 63kg and Katulu Ravi Kumar and Sathish Sivalingam in Men's 77kg are among the favourites to win a medal in their respective events. 24 gold medals are in stake today and India will hope to win few more of those yellow medals with shooting and weightlifting offering two finals each.
