Five killed in road mishap in Rajasthan

Five people were killed on the Jhalawar Baran mega highway in Rajasthan after their car allegedly rammed into a roadside electric pole, police said on Friday.

Kota: Five people were killed on the Jhalawar Baran mega highway in Rajasthan after their car allegedly rammed into a roadside electric pole, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred last night around 10 o'clock when the men, all engaged in bore-well business, were returning from Khanpur and their speeding car apparently lost control before hitting the pole, they said.

Four of them died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment at a hospital in Baran city, a police official said.

The deceased have been identified as Namichand Nagar (29), Bhojraj Nagar (47), Koshal Nagar alias Pawan (28), all three residents of Sarod village, Komal Narar (40) and Hemant Nagar (32) of Jirodh village in Baran district, said Satyanarayan Malav, Station House Officer of Bapawar police station.

The bodies have been handed over to the families after the post mortem, the SHO said, adding a case has been registered by the police.
