Representational Image Jaipur: Hours after a group of cow vigilantes thrashed at least five men on suspicion of carrying beef in Haryana's Faridabad, another example of lawlessness under the name of cow protection came up in Rajasthan.
As many as 51 cows belonging to a Muslim family in Rajasthan's Alwar district were snatched and handed over to a village gaushala, on a complaint by some Hindu activists.
The incident took place over a week ago and since then, the family has been struggling to get back its flock.
The family alleged that the police forcibly took away their 51 cows and handed them over to a gaushala. They further alleged that they have approached several government offices and police station to get back their cows, but continue to face disappointment.
The police, however, has rejected the family's allegations and said that they had no role in it and said that the villagers drove the cow to the gaushala.
The family belong to the Meo community.
Just six months ago, 55-year-old dairy farmer, Pehlu Khan, belonging to the Meo community, was lynched in Alwar by cow vigilantes over suspicion of carrying beef.
