Heatwave continues in Punjab, Haryana; Hisar sizzles at 46.1 deg C

Chandigarh: Heatwave conditions continued to prevail in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Saturday with Hisar once again turning out to be the hottest place in the region by recording a maximum temperature of 46.1 degrees Celsius.

Hisar's high was three notches above normal, the MeT Department said, adding that the maximum temperature at Ambala and Karnal settled at 38.1 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, registered a maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar had a hot day at 41.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, while Ludhiana and Patiala too sizzled at 40.7 degrees Celsius and 39.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

The MeT Department has forecast a light rain or thundershowers at isolated places of the two states in the next 48 hours.
