Two dead, several feared trapped after under-construction flyover collapses in Odisha

At least two persons were killed and several were injured after an under-construction flyover collapsed in Bhubaneshwar district of Odisha on Sunday. 

Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were killed and several were injured after an under-construction flyover collapsed in Bhubaneshwar district of Odisha on Sunday. 

Revenue Divisional Commissioner AB Otta confirmed the report and said that rescue operation is currently underway. 

The incident took place at Bomikhal area of Bhubaneswar. 

Eleven people are said to have been injured in the mishap whereas several others are still believed to be trapped inside the debris. 

As per a Firstpost report, at least 30 reporters were working when the flyover collapsed at around 12:15 pm today.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the loss of life in Bomikhal flyover collapse and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the bereaved family and free treatment of injured. 

The Chief Minister also ordered a high-level probe into the mishap. 

"High-level enquiry instituted into the mishap and exemplary action to be taken against guilty. Two engineers placed under suspension," he tweeted.
