Landslide derails cargo train in China, kills 2

Two drivers of a freight train were killed on Monday after it was struck by a landslide and got derailed in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Beijing: Two drivers of a freight train were killed on Monday after it was struck by a landslide and got derailed in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Eight carriages of the train came off the track in Ankang City after the train was hit by a landslide and the debris scattered on the track, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Two drivers of the train were killed in the incident, the report said.

The accident took place on the Xunyang-Zongxi section of the railway, which runs from central China's Hubei Province to southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

The accident did not affect the rail traffic of passenger trains, it said.

Railway authorities have dispatched rescue teams to the site.
