Kumar presents credentials to UNOG Acting Director-General

Ajit Kumar, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices in Geneva, on Thursday presented his credentials to the Acting Director-General Michael Moller.

Geneva: Ajit Kumar, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices in Geneva, on Thursday presented his credentials to the Acting Director-General Michael Moller.

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to UNOG, Kumar was Consul General of India in Atlanta (United States).

He is a 1979 Indian Foreign Service officer who has previously been Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Consul General in Frankfurt (Germany) and Durban (South Africa).

He was also the deputy chief of the Indian mission in the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and participated in the multilateral negotiations on the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty in the 1990s.

The diplomat has held posts in Damascus, Mexico City, Islamabad and New Delhi.
