The head of one of Albania`s top private banks was gunned down on Thursday outside his office in the capital Tirana, police said.

Tirana: The head of one of Albania`s top private banks was gunned down on Thursday outside his office in the capital Tirana, police said.

Artan Santi, 58, the CEO of Credins Bank and also a majority shareholder in the media Fokus Group, was shot dead by two assailants wearing helmets as he was about to enter his downtown office, police spokeswoman Alma Katragjini said.

The two men fled on a motorbike.

Police cordoned off the area and set up checkpoints at all entrances to the capital.
