BJP is 'Bharatiya Joker Party': Mamata's nephew

Kolkata: In an apparent dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national president of All India Trinamool Yuva, Abhishek Banerjee said on Monday that the BJP leaders are more concerned about changing their clothes five times a day and termed the national party as 'Bharatiya Joker Party'.

The Trinamool leader made the remarks while addressing a rally Shahid Minar.

Abhishek lambasted the BJP saying, “They know they cannot counter West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee democratically. People of Bengal want peace and prosperity. They spent money to turn Parui into Nandigram and failed. There have been riots across India after BJP came to power. They will never succeed in Bengal.”

Abhishek, nephew of Mamata Banerjee, targeted the prime minister and said: “Those who come to Bengal as migratory birds, address a rally and go back to Delhi will never win here. India does not need a Foreign Minister because our PM himself spends five out of six months abroad. Our PM flies in private jets, goes abroad and changes wardrobe frequently. Mamata Banerjee still lives in a small house, wears hawai chappal and wears a tant saree.”

The TMC leader's statements came a day after BJP president Amit Shah addressed a rally in Kolkata on Sunday and accused Mamata Banerjee of creating hurdles for a proper NIA probe into the Burdwan blast to shield her party leaders allegedly involved in the incident.

Shah also alleged that Saradha chit fund money was used in the October 2 Burdwan blast.

Shah declared that he was here to see to it that the "corrupt TMC regime is uprooted", for which, he asserted, "the countdown has begun".

Shah said that Modi's Lok Sabha victory march would culminate with the BJP's victory in the Assembly poll in the state due in 2016.
