Muzaffarnagar: The chairman of Khatauli Nagar Panchayat, Paras Jain, has been divested of financial powers by Uttar Pradesh government for alleged misappropriation of funds, a senior official said on Wednesday.
The state government has seized the financial powers of Jain on the recommendation of district authorities to remove him from the post following corruption charges, said District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma.
The state government has also issued him a show-cause notice seeking his reply within 15 days as to why he should not be removed from the post following the charges.
On a complaint filed by some Nagar Palika members, district authorities had in a probe allegedly found Jain involved in misappropriation of funds during development work.
