UP Governor seeks CM's clarification on Lokayukta reports

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Monday shot off a fresh letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seeking clarification on Lokayukta's special reports in 23 cases concerning politicians and government officials pending before the state government.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Monday shot off a fresh letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seeking clarification on Lokayukta's special reports in 23 cases concerning politicians and government officials pending before the state government.

The Governor has asked Yadav to give his and Chief Secretary's clarification on the special reports which are pending with the government following which they could be tabled in the state legislature.

According to a communique issued by Raj Bhawan, of the total 43 special reports, the state government has given its clarification on 20 reports out of which only one was tabled in the state legislature.

The Governor has desired that the remaining 19 reports be immediately tabled in the state legislature.

The special reports pertain to financial irregularities by several politicians, including former ministers of the previous BSP government and officials.

Prominent among them are former ministers Swami Prasad Maurya, Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Babu Singh Kushwaha, Ramvir Upadhaya, Badshah Singh and Ram Achal Rajbhar.

Maurya is the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly while Siddiqui is at present Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.

The Governor had written a letter to the Chief Minister on September 12, 2014 in this connection.
