Student arrested for looting truck in UP

A 21-year-old polytechnic student was arrested for looting a truck on Delhi-Pauri highway here, police said on Sunday.

Muzaffarnagar: A 21-year-old polytechnic student was arrested for looting a truck on Delhi-Pauri highway here, police said on Sunday.

The accused, Nitin Kumar, a final year polytechnic student in Meerut, was arrested yesterday while fleeing with a truck which he along with his accomplice Manoj had looted. The latter one, however, manged to flee the spot, Station House Officer Arun Tyagi said.

"Two accused Nitin and Manoj came in a car and looted the truck after controlling its driver. Acting on tip off police managed to intercept the vehicle," he said.
During interrogation, Nitin confessed that he looted the truck in order to deposit his college fees of Rs 35000, the official said.

A further probe has been initiated, he said, adding that a hunt is on to nab the other accused who is still at large.
