Nine Nepalese tourists injured in accident in UP's Shamli

Nine Nepalese tourists were injured when a bus in which they were travelling was hit by another bus near Banat on Khatima-Panipat Highway in Shamli district, police said today.

Muzaffarnagar: Nine Nepalese tourists were injured when a bus in which they were travelling was hit by another bus near Banat on Khatima-Panipat Highway in Shamli district, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when the victims were returning to Nepal from Himachal Pradesh, they said.

The victims have been identified as Karan Bahadur, Manoj Gyan Bahadur, Kishordhan Bahadur, Rita, Harish and Jitender.

All the victims were shifted to a hospital, police said, adding, the bus driver fled the spot.

In a separate incident, a couple was crushed to death when the motorcycle in which they were travelling was hit by a bus on Jhinjhana road in Shamli district yesterday.

The incident occurred when they Ramesh (28) and his wife Mithilesh (26) were returning to Karnal, Nishank Sharma, Circle officer said.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, the CO said, adding, the erring driver fled the spot.
