NCP lashes out at Mulayam over his ``less rapes in UP`` comment

Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Tariq Anwar lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying that the ministers need to have a control on their language as they are completely responsible for law and order situation in the state.

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Tariq Anwar lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav here on Saturday, saying that the ministers need to have a control on their language as they are completely responsible for law and order situation in the state.

Earlier today, Mulayam Singh Yadav had made a statement saying, "The population is so high. UP has a population of 21 crores. If there are least amount of rapes in this country, they are in Uttar Pradesh. Every crime cannot be checked in the state."

"If the minister will himself give such statement then what will happen to law and order. A responsible person should never use such language as it motivates the criminals; the government is completely responsible because its credibility plays a major role. But if the criminals loose fear of law and order and feel that no action will be taken against them the crime rate will increase. They should keep a control on their language," said Anwar.
"What Mulayam Singh Yadav said must be his point of view but no doubt that Uttar Pradesh is a huge state and has huge strength and the state government has the responsibility of security of every citizen," Anwar added.
Recently, a 35-year-old woman was gang raped in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow. She was found naked with injury marks on her face, head and private parts. The post-mortem report also confirmed the reason to be sexual assault and severe injuries on private parts.
