Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police was left red-faced on Sunday when a forensic investigation report into the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Mohanlalganj area nullified its claims and indicated that the deceased was raped by more than one person.
UP police had earlier negated rape and arrested a guard of a private security firm in connection with the murder; but reports said forensic investigation indicated that traces of blood and flesh of more than one person were found on the victim.
Reports also stated that the rape and murder of the woman was committed by a group of men.
The forensic report further nullified UP police`s claim that a bike key was the weapon of murder as no DNA was found on the key.
The Lucknow Police however claimed that the two reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory do not contradict their finding in the case.
"Seven forensic reports were to be received in Mohanlalganj murder case, of which, only two have been received so far and on the basis of which any conclusion cannot be drawn," Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar told.
"I can say that the two reports received so far are suggestive and not conclusive. I can say that these reports do not contradict our finding so far."
He said any conclusion could be drawn only after all the seven reports are received and corroborated.
"Whatever comes to the fore will be shared with the media, but it is not right to speculate at this level," Kumar said.
After the revelations Samajwadi Party leader Rajendra Chaudhary reiterated that the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government would ensure that guilty would be punished.
"The investigation is going on and the Chief Minister has made it clear that whoever is found guilty in this case will be punished," said Chaudhary.
He further said that the SP-led UP Government is unbiased, and will ensure justice to everyone.
UP police had on last Sunday arrested Ramsevak Yadav, the guard of a private security firm, in the case and Sutapa Sanyal, ADG, had said, “This was not a gang-rape, it was a one-man operation. The accused Ramsevak wanted to have physical relations with the victim. He killed her after failing in his attempts."
She had said that according to the autopsy report, "no sexual intercourse took place," adding that the victim had resisted an attempt to rape after the accused hit her multiple times using his helmet and caused injuries to her private parts.

The incident had come to light on July 17 when the nude body of the woman was spotted near a primary school in Balsingh Khera village of Mohanlalganj tehsil here by a watchman.
The area where the body was recovered is in the vicinity of Jabrauli village, where tight security arrangements had been made in view of former United State President Bill Clinton`s visit.
