Farmer shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli

A 48-year-old farmer was allegedly shot dead by unknown miscreants in Shamli district on Monday, police said.

Muzaffarnagar: A 48-year-old farmer was allegedly shot dead by unknown miscreants in Shamli district on Monday, police said.

Hemsingh was shot at by unidentified miscreants while he was sleeping at his home at Kheri Khushnuma village in Shamli district this morning, they said.

The farmer died on the spot, police said, adding that search operations are on for the assailants.

In another incident, body of a Sadhu was found in the fields at Bhagidar village in Shamli district yesterday.

The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding that it has not been identified yet.

Further investigation is on, they added.
